City Offices Closed, Pools Open for Labor Day Holiday

Posted: 09/03/2020
City of Knoxville offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, for the Labor Day holiday, but the City’s two outdoor pools will be open.

Labor Day is the final day of the season at Ed Cothren Pool, 1737 Reynolds St., and Inskip Pool, 4204 Bruhin Road. They will be open 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday, and 1 - 6 p.m. on Sunday. Cost of admission is $3 per person at Ed Cothren and $4 per person at Inskip. Groups of 10 or more must call in advance.

Be advised of the following holiday-related changes in city services:

- Waste Connections will run its normal residential garbage and recycling routes on the holiday. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the only days when residential curbside trash and recycling are not picked up as scheduled. City crews will also collect downtown trash and recyclables on its regular schedule.

- The City's five recycling drop-off centers will be open, but the Goodwill attendant will not be on site Monday, Sept. 7, to receive donations of household goods. Please don’t leave donations at unattended recycling centers.

- KAT buses and trolleys will run a Saturday schedule on Monday, Sept. 7. The Knoxville Station Customer Service Counter will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

- The 311 Center for Service Innovation, which operates the 311 and 211 phone numbers, will be closed on Labor Day. Residents needing to make reports to 311 or access 211 services over the weekend and on the holiday are encouraged to visit KnoxvilleTN.gov/311 to submit an online request, email [email protected] or go to 211.org. For information on COVID-19 or Census 2020, and to access a list of social services available in our community, residents can use the chatbot at KnoxvilleTN.gov/chat.

- The City's Solid Waste Facility, at 1033 Elm St., which includes the Household Hazardous Waste facility, will be closed Saturday, Sept. 5 and Monday, Sept. 7. The Free-for-City-Residents Day is rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 12. Until further notice, the Solid Waste Facility only accepts credit or debit cards—no cash.
