The Neighborhood Small Grants Program (NSGP) strengthens neighborhoods in the City of Knoxville by supporting a wide range of community-based initiatives through grants and technical assistance.
The program is aimed at resident-controlled, resident-led neighborhood, democratically run groups such as neighborhood watch groups, neighborhood associations, tenant associations, and homeowners associations.
Applications for the 2022 year are available to be viewed but are not ready for submission.
The general timeline is as follows:
April/May:
Mandatory workshops will be:
Saturday, Apr 24, 10 a.m.-12 noon
Tuesday, Apr 27, 5-7 p.m.
Thursday, May 6, 6-8 p.m.
July:
If you would like someone from the Office of Neighborhoods to review your Grant Application for completeness, it needs to be in our office by 4:30 on Monday, July 12. ALL GRANT APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY MONDAY, July 26, AT 4:30 P.M.
August/September: Members of a citizens evaluation committee, composed of current and former neighborhood leaders, conduct site visits to learn more about each applicant's proposed project.
October: Recommendations announced, City Council consideration, and contracts signed for projects that will be carried out the following year.
November: Contracts signed
January 2022: Checks received by Non- Profits; Or Checks go to Fiscal Sponsor
