Directions: Go east on I-40 and take the James White Parkway exit; take the next exit onto Summit Hill Drive; go east on Summit Hill Drive (turns into Dandridge Avenue) about a mile and a half; right on Wilder one block; right on Natchez; park is on right. 

Babe Ruth Park

This small pocket park in East Knoxville sits on about a half an acre and includes a basketball court, picnic table, playground and open space for play.


HISTORY OF THE PARK


The park is named after George Herman “Babe” Ruth Jr. (1895-1948), a Major League Baseball legend.  Ruth’s career spanned 22 seasons, from 1914 to 1935.He began his career with the Boston Red Sox, but later achieved his greatest fame as a slugging outfielder for the New York Yankees. Ruth established many MLB batting (and some pitching) records, including career home runs (714), runs batted in (RBIs) (2,213), bases on balls (“walks) (2,062), slugging percentage (.6897), and on-base plus slugging (1.164).Ruth is regarded as one of the greatest sports heroes in American culture and is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all time.


PARK RULES & REGULATIONS

1.) For the protection of our park and the safety of its users, the following are prohibited:
  • No alcoholic beverages
  • No open fires
  • No hitting golf balls anywhere in the park
  • No motorized vehicles in park
  • No equestrian activity
2.) Per city ordinance, all animals must be maintained on a leash.
3.) Please be respectful of other trail users
4.) Please help to keep our parks beautiful by disposing trash in proper receptacles.
5.) Hours - Open dawn to dusk unless otherwise posted.
