Ijams Nature Center
Green spaces such as Ijams Nature Center protect East Tennessee’s incredible natural resources

Just miles from the Smoky Mountains and home to countless rivers, wetlands, forests, and other unique ecosystems, Knoxville is known for its beautiful and scenic open spaces. Our natural environment provides a wide range of benefits to residents and visitors: open space for recreation, increased protection from floods, water purification processes, habitats for wildlife, and much more.

The City is committed to maintaining a clean and safe natural environment in order to improve quality of life for our residents, support the local economy, and serve as a good steward of natural resources.
