Budget TweetOn Thursday, February 11, 2021, Mayor Indya Kincannon, senior City staff and City Council met via the Zoom platform for a mid-year budget review and updates on major City initiatives.

The annual budget retreat was not conducted in person, as it is traditionally, to adhere to appropriate pandemic safety protocols.

This retreat is the first step in the public process of preparing a budget for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

The Semi-Annual Financial Report and presentations from the retreat are available below. If you missed the discussion, Community Television of Knoxville (CTV) live-streamed the proceedings. Visit www.ctvknox.org to view the video.

Chief Financial Officer Susan Gennoe talked about the City’s financial health after an austere budget last year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gunnoe also highlighted the City's, once again, all-time high bond ratings and broke down possible sources of revenue.

Mayor Kincannon then presented an overview of City services and initiatives.

Budget TweetThe presentation was titled: Investing in Knoxville, Investing in People.

Mayor Kincannon broke down her administration’s core values and the many projects that exemplify investments in:

• Public Safety
• Healthy and Connected Neighborhoods
• A Clean and Resilient Future
• Businesses and Good Jobs
• Good Governance

The annual budget retreat with City Council marks the start of the City’s budget planning process.

City department directors are finalizing their budget requests and will present them to the Mayor during the Mayor's Budget Hearings on March 23-25, 2021.

Mayor Kincannon will present her proposed 2021-2022 budget on April 23, 2021.
