Photo Gallery: Enjoy a Tour of the Rejuvenated Cal Johnson Recreation Center and Park

On Sept. 23, 2020, Mayor Indya Kincannon, City Council members, community partners and advocates officially cut a ribbon and dedicated the rejuvenated Cal Johnson Recreation Center, 507 Hall of Fame Drive.

The top-to-bottom inside-and-out transformation of the rec center and park reflects a $721,866 City investment and a privately-funded $100,000 public art project. (Many thanks to 2K Foundations and Lady Vol legend Candace Parker.)

On Sept. 23, 2020, Mayor Indya Kincannon, City Council members and community partners cut a ribbon and celebrated more than $875,000 in recent upgrades at three City Parks, funded through City, Knox County, state and private collaboration.

The City has installed a new 4,500-square-foot $81,700 playground at Cal Johnson.

A new $71,031 fitness room has been added during a major renovation of Cal Johnson Rec Center.

Cal Johnson Rec Center was reconfigured to create space for this multipurpose room.

The rejuvenated rec center has more windows and more natural light
