Music Around the World
Instructor: Ginny Winston
August 10-14, 9:00 – 12 noon, $75

Travel around the world, and learn about the international language: MUSIC! In this weeklong camp, we will study music and instruments from countries all around the world. From the Australian Didgeridoo to the Appalachian Dulcimer, students will have the opportunity to explore each destination’s music and culture, and even make their own instruments to take home!

Ages 6-10, Beg. Ballet, Tap and Jazz ( 2 sessions)
( two consecutive sessions)

Thurs., November 5 - December 17 (7 weeks) $61.00

Instructor: Sandy Larson

This class focuses on the fundamentals of classical ballet and jazz complete with barre and floor workout, stretching and combinations. Ballet will give the student grace and poise with tap and jazz allowing for creativity and freedom of movement. Sandy is a professional dancer and choreographer.

Ages 10-Older Pottery for Home School
Students or Beginner Adults
Monday, October 5-November 9 (6 weeks)
8:30-11:00 a.m., $139.00
Instructor: Cathy Maples

In this six-week class students will experience throw-ing on the potter’s wheel and hand building with clay. Learn the basics of how to wedge and center the clay. Students will make an assortment of different shaped vessels such as cups, vases, and bowls as well as a mask to use and enjoy. A variety of food safe glazes will be available to choose from. All pieces will be fired and ready for pick-up in approximately 10 days. (Beginner adults also welcome without a child registered in class).

Ages 10-14, Painting, Fall Break Knox Co.
Friday, October 16

Instructor: Betty Fortenberry

You no longer need to be intimidated by a blank canvas. Discover how to take your favorite subject or scene and turn it into a work of art. Students will learn the basics of drawing and composition while using different painting techniques. Expect not only to finish a complete painting, but to have fun in the learning process. A ghostly gourd and a 2” X 2“ fall table topper decoration will be painted during class.

Ages 11-15, Drawing
Monday, August 31-October 5 ( 5-weeks)
(No class Sept. 7, Labor Day)
4:00– 5:30 p.m., $75.00
Instructor: Elise Murphy

Designed for the student with some prior drawing experience, this course is for those who wish to expand their observation and drawing skills. The first day we will create and bind our own sketchbooks. As the weeks goes on we will explore composition, shading, perspective and textures. Students will study a variety of live objects and still life props, as well as create from their own imagination. We will have some fun with optical illusions and then end the session by learning to build layers of color in different drawing mediums.

Ages 10-Older, Mosaics for Home School
Students/ Parents
Monday, November 2, 9 & 16, (3 weeks)
1:00-4:00 p.m., $70.00
Instructor: Elise Murphy

Students will learn the techniques for creating a beautiful decorative mosaic piece of art. First they will draw their own original design onto a work board. Next, they will glue on an assortment of tiles, beads, shells, and found objects. A 15” X 15” grouted piece will be completed by the end of this session.

Ages 7-12, Christmas Gifts to Give
Monday, December 21
9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., $40.00
Instructor: Cathy Maples & Elise Murphy

Pack your lunch and spend the day with us! Christmas is just around the corner, and this class is perfect for students wishing to make their own gifts for loved ones. Students will create then wrap five-unique gifts to give to mom, dad, grandparents or friends. What we will be making is a surprise, so no questions please. Encourage your child to experience the joy of creating and giving from the heart! Students dress in older clothes, we will be painting.

Ages 6-10, Bugs, Bees and Butterflies
Monday-Friday, July 20-24
9:30-a.m.-12:00 noon, $70.00
Instructors: Cathy Maples and Elise Murphy

Sequins, feathers, netting, wire, clothespins, paint and yarn will all be combined in this beautiful class about bugs, bees and butterflies. Students will also have their own clear collection jars for examining God’s little creatures up close. All specimens will be released following the study.

Ages 8-13, Paper Baskets
Monday-Friday, July 20-24,
1:00-4:00 p.m., $80.00
Instructor: Nancy Roberson

Using newspaper, card board and junk mail, students will use both weaving and plaiting techniques to create one of a kind, sculptured baskets that will then be adorned with paint, buttons, ribbons etc. These items are great for wall art to hang or a portable cushion for outdoor events.

Ages 8-12, Canoeing, Art and Outdoor Fun
Monday-Friday, July 27-31 (all day)
9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., $120.00
Instructors: Cathy Maples & Elise Murphy

Students will get a chance to participate in fun outdoor games such as water balloon toss, watermelon seed spitting contest, paper airplane contest and lots of games. Students will also make a variety of art projects with an outdoor theme. We are teaming up with aquatics on Wednesday for a special trip to The Cove. Staff will educate paddlers about canoeing while enjoying the great outdoors. Life jackets are required and will be fitted for all participants. Bring a bottle of water, swim suit and sunscreen.

Ages 8-13, Paper Making and Book Binding
Monday-Friday, July 27-31
1:00-4:00 p.m., $80.00
Instructor: Nancy Roberson

Students will create their own paper using cotton paper pulp and recycled paper colored with dyes and paint. Students will also make individual books with various techniques such as Japanese Stab Binding, Origami Books and Accordion Folds.
