The Parks and Recreation Division offers a wide variety of activities for each member of the family to enjoy. One of the main goals for the Division is to improve recreational opportunities for all Knoxvillians, and with the opening of new fitness centers, the construction of greenways and walking trails and the installation of new playground equipment at many city parks, great progress is being made toward the goal.

    Athletics Office

The Athletics Office cooperates with sports commissions across the city to provide recreational sports activities for adults and children in baseball, softball, basketball and football.

The Officials Coordinator helps to improve the athletic experience for participants by training and scheduling officials for sporting events.

For information on how to sign up for one of the leagues, call the office at the number above. Information is also printed in the "Bulletin Board" section of the Sunday Sports Section of The Knoxville News-Sentinel. For game cancellations, call the Athletic Info Line at 865-215-INFO (4636).

    Celebration Bench Program

The Celebration Bench Program is a way for citizens to celebrate a new life, honor a friend, or remember a loved one by placing a bench in a city park or along a greenway for all patrons to enjoy. Specific sites have been pre-selected for bench placement by the Parks and Recreation Division. The City of Knoxville will permanently install the bench. A custom bronze plaque will be inscribed with wording of your choice and placed on the bench, forever honoring your loved one.
