    Playground at Lonsdale Park
Children play on the vibrantly colored playground
    in the recently renovated
    Lonsdale Park.

    Northwest Knoxville

Directions: Take Western Avenue exit off of I-640 and go east about one mile; turn left onto Texas Avenue and go about three-quarters of a mile; right on Stonewall; park is on left side of the road on Stonewall Street and Connecticut Avenue. Next to Lonsdale Recreation Center.

Lonsdale Park was renovated in 2007 and now features three new playgrounds, a large picnic shelter (perfect for special events), a greenway loop, and repaved basketball courts. The renovation also included the removal of Bragg St., making it possible for children from Lonsdale Elementary to play in the park at recess and after school. Overall, the renovation made it possible for Lonsdale Elementary School, Lonsdale Park, and Lonsdale Recreation Center to reside together--all on the same block.

In 2012, Mayor Madeline Rogero opened the newly renovated Lonsdale Recreation Center featuring a renovated gym, updated computer lab, and an additional 2,500 square feet that includes expanded restrooms, a community room, a kitchen, and an office.
