Ashley Nicole Dream Playground History
Opened in June 2005, the Ashley Nicole Dream Playground was Knoxville’s first 100% accessible playground. It was named in honor of Ashley Nicole Manes, who suffered injuries in a 1999 automobile accident that left her paralyzed at age 4. Clients at the Sertoma Center, which serves adults with disabilities, planted an herb and butterfly garden at the Ashley Nicole Dream Playground. The playground was named the Best New Facility in 2005 by the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association.
