INSPECTIONS UNIT

Sgt. Tracy Hunter
800 Howard Baker Jr. Ave
Knoxville, TN 37915
865-215-7000

The Inspections Unit is responsible for enforcing all city and state laws and regulations pertaining to alcoholic beverages and vehicles for hire. Part of this responsibility is preparing a report for the Knoxville City Beer Board for presentment at each Beer Board meeting. This report outlines any criminal or traffic offenses a beer permit applicant may have had in the past. To insure those businesses that possess a city beer permit are operating within the law, officers of the Inspections Unit conduct numerous bar checks and periodically conduct underage beer stings targeting sales to minors. The Unit also coordinates the Tennessee Alcohol Server Knowledge Class (TASK). This class is held on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Safety Building. Call 865-215-7252 for more information on the class.
