The Family Crimes Investigative Unit is a collaboration of two details, whose primary focus is dealing with issues within the family environment. The Domestic Violence Detail provides comprehensive services to victims and investigates criminal offenses to hold offenders accountable. The detail provides services ranging from safety planning, Order of Protection assistance, case analysis, research and preparation for prosecution. All of these services are provided at the Family Justice Center, which provides a non-threatening environment where the victim and their family can feel safe in. The Family Justice Center, which has been in operation since 2006, is supported by more than sixty partner agencies.

Community accountability and education is being accomplished by joining with area service providers, agencies, courts and the business community to form the Community Coalition on Family Violence, which has helped to support the Family Justice Center and their effort to serve as a one-stop resource center.

The Juvenile Detail investigates crimes involving persons under the age of eighteen, whether they are a suspect or a victim. This detail also investigates cases involving child sex abuse and all missing persons, both adults and juveniles. This detail works closely with the Department of Children's Services and the District Attorney General's Office to ensure successful prosecutions. In addition, we work to safeguard our communities by working intently to make sure all Sex Offenders are abiding by the Sex Offender Registry Laws.
