Mayor Haslam and Chief Owen with Officers Gilreath and Burrell
Bank Robbery Investigation and Safe Burglary Investigation Earns Two Investigators Special Honors
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Todd Gilreath and James Burrell the September Officers of the Month for the Knoxville Police Department. Investigator Gilreath has been with the department since January 1994. Investigator Burrell has been with KPD since December 1998.

Mayor Haslam and Chief Owen with Officers Thornton, Bell and Whillock
Arrest of Vehicle Burglary Suspects Earns Special Award for Three Officers
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Officer Timothy Thornton, Officer Brian Bell and Officer Preston Whillock as the July Officers of the Month. All three officers have been with the department since June 2006. Officer Whillock was previously an Officer of the Month and Life Saving Award recipient in 2007.

Safety City Receives Donation for Halloween in the City
State Farm donates $2000 to Safety City
To help fund the 2009 Halloween in the City event, a special donation was made by Cindy Doyle of the Cindy Doyle State Farm Agency. The very generous $2,000.00 donation is part of the Sate Farm Good Neighbor Service Month Grant. The donation will help provide for fun games and activities.

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen today promoted David Rausch to the rank of Deputy Chief during a special promotional Ceremony. Deputy Chief Rausch has been with the Knoxville Police Department for more than sixteen years.

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen named Officer Joey Mattina the April Officer of the Month. Officer Mattina has been with the Knoxville Police Department since January 1997.

Truck Honors Fallen KPD Officers
Knoxville Police Chief Sterling Owen joined today with Claiborne Hauling Contractors Director of Transportation, Eric Edlin, to unveil a new truck that honors Knoxville Police Officers who were killed in the line of duty. The Mack CL 733 tri-axle dump truck is the latest vehicle in Claiborne’s long line of specially painted vehicles.

Knoxville Police Dedicate Memorial To Honor Officers
KPD Memorial Dedication
Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Police Chief Sterling Owen dedicated a memorial to honor Knoxville Police Department Officers. The memorial is the culmination of hard work on behalf of employees and thousands of citizens. The drive to raise money for the memorial began in 2003 when special dinners were held for Honda Hoot visitors.
