The Neighborhood Small Grants Program (NSGP) strengthens neighborhoods in the City  of Knoxville by supporting a wide range of community-based initiatives through grants and technical assistance.

The program is aimed at resident-controlled, resident-led neighborhood groups such as neighborhood watch groups, neighborhood associations, tenant associations, and homeowners associations.

The 2019 funding cycle, is currently closed.

For the 2020 NSGP Cycle, the Office of Neighborhoods will host a workshop in January 2019.  This will help neighborhood groups think of grant ideas that fit their neighborhood.  Office of Neighborhoods will also provide the 2020 NSGP Guidelines and Application at that time.

May and June 2019: Neighborhood groups intending to apply for a grant must send a representative to a mandatory pre-application workshop.  Attendance at ONE of these three meetings is mandatory in order to apply for the grant.

Workshop dates will be announced in late December 2018.

Last year's schedule was as follows:

May 8, 2018: The Office of Neighborhoods issued the 2019 NSGP Guidelines and Application. These documents have been revised since the 2018 cycle.

May and June 2018: Neighborhood groups intending to apply for a grant must send a representative to a mandatory pre-application workshop. Attendance at one of these three workshops is mandatory in order to apply for the grant:

Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10 a.m.-12 noon
Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 10 a.m.-12 noon
Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 6-8 p.m.

If a representative from your neighborhood did not attend one of the three workshops listed above, your neighborhood organization will not be able to apply this year.

July 30, 2018: Applications are due. See documents for details.

August/September 2018: Members of a citizens evaluation committee, composed of current and former neighborhood leaders, conduct site visits to learn more about each applicant's proposed project.

Fourth Quarter 2018: Recommendations announced, City Council consideration, contracts signed, and checks issued for projects that will be carried out during calendar year 2019.
