DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EVENTS

Mickey Mallonee is a native Knoxvillian, returned to Knoxville in 1994 having lived across the United States and two European countries. Upon her return, she began work at the Arts council of Greater Knoxville, and at the time she left there to become the Director of Special Events for the City, she was serving as Executive Director. Before that she was Special Events Director for the Council, and during this time she was responsible for coordinating and implementing all events for the council such as Kids on the Town, ArtFest Celebrations and the Mayor's Art Gala.

Mallonee has an extensive background in event planning, having worked in protocol for several years for the United States Air Force. During this time she served as the President of the Officers Wives club at several locations and had the responsibility of arranging and coordinating visits of dignitaries of national significance, including many foreign.

She is currently a member of several Boards including the University of Tennessee School of Art Community Advisory Board; Leadership Knoxville; Blount Mansion and James White's Fort. She is a graduate of the Leadership Knoxville Class of 2000 and has been appointed to the Tennessee Arts Commission's panel for Advocacy for the Arts in government.

Mallonee has brought new and innovative ideas to the Special Events Office with plans for expansion of the City's annual Christmas in the City celebration, and is actively pursuing acquisition of a performance barge for the Volunteer Landing on the Waterfront. Many new and exciting festivals are in the works for happenings throughout the city.

Ms. Mallonee has two children. Daughter, Lisa Marie, and son, Mason Wade reside in Atlanta.
