Appeals
If you are dissatisfied with the Judge's ruling on your case, you may
Appeal to have a completely new trial (with or without a jury) at Circuit
Court in the City/County Building.
Do You Need to See the Judge?
If you pay your Citation on or before your Court Date, you will not
be required to appear before the Judge in City Court. HOWEVER, it may
be to your benefit to present your case to the Judge.
Driver's License
Anyone driving in Tennessee must have his or her valid Driver License
in his or her possession to show to any law enforcement officer on demand.
Equipment Repairs
A vehicle 'equipment violation' can cost $61.50+ per charge. However,
if you present 'PROOF OF REPAIR' acceptable to the Court, your cost
may be reduced to "$0"!
How Do You Plead?
Guilty, Not Guilty or No Contest.
Judge's Ruling
A Court Clerk will go over the Court's Orders on your case as explained
to you by the Judge in Court, and based on the Judge's written notes
on the back of your Citation
Proof of Insurance
If you do not have liability insurance coverage, or otherwise fulfill
Tennessee's Financial Responsibility Law requirements- DO NOT DRIVE!
Dismissed Upon Payment of
Court Cost
When the Judge says Dismissed upon payment of Costs! This means $97.25
is the amount due (per charge) in most such rulings by the Judge.
Vehicle Registration
You may be cited for 17-205REG, Improper Vehicle Registration/Tag, if
the tag on the vehicle you are driving is 'expired', is not properly
registered to that vehicle, is improperly displayed, or if you cannot
present the vehicle's official registration to an Officer on demand
as required by law.
